Stadium History
Opened in 2002 next to the site of Foxboro Stadium, Gillette Stadium became the home of the New England Patriots and New England Revolution. Its first official event was an MLS match on 11 May 2002, when New England Revolution beat Dallas Burn 2–0. The Kraft Group owns and operates the stadium, which has a 64,628-seat capacity.
The stadium has hosted MLS Cup, the 2003 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Gold Cup and United States national-team matches, as well as major concerts. Recent investment includes the 2021 south-end videoboard and a north-end redevelopment completed in 2023 with a 22-storey lighthouse, observation deck, G-P Atrium and new fan facilities. For the 2026 FIFA World Cup it is known as Boston Stadium.
