Stadium History
Between 2009 and 2012, Lille undertook a public-private project with Eiffage to build a new stadium. Originally named Grand Stade Lille Métropole, this 50,000-seat arena was funded in part by Eiffage and is set to receive revenues until 2043. Designed by Valode&Pistre and Atelier Farret, the stadium features an LED-lit exterior and a unique semi-retractable pitch. Inside, seating is divided into three tiers, with a middle tier dedicated to corporate supporters.
The stadium’s versatility allows for hosting concerts and sports events. It cost €282 million to construct, along with €42 million for parking and complex facilities. Lille OSC is the primary tenant, and the venue was renamed in honor of Pierre Mauroy in June 2013.
