Stadium History
Estadio Carlos Tartiere is the municipal home of Real Oviedo in the La Ería district of Oviedo. Built between 1998 and 2000 to replace the former Carlos Tartiere ground, it hosted its first league match on September 17, 2000, when Real Oviedo drew 2-2 with UD Las Palmas. The official inauguration followed three days later with a friendly against Partizan Belgrade. The venue is named after Carlos Tartiere, the first president of Real Oviedo.
Designed by Carlos Buxadé Ribot, Joan Margarit Consarnau and Emilio Llano, the stadium is recognised by its large blue roof, three corner towers and stands positioned close to the pitch. Its 105×68-metre natural-grass playing surface and 30,500 seats make it one of the largest football grounds in northern Spain. The complex also includes hospitality boxes, press areas and club facilities, while its position between surrounding hills gives the stadium a distinctive profile across western Oviedo.
